How to Not fight Your Enemy

I will admit, I did not watch a moment of the President's speech last night on how he and his administration were going to handle the ISIS threat.  Why?  Because I knew, because I think I know this President very well now, that he would not say or commit to doing what really needs to be done.

Why do you ask?  Because Dinesh D'Souza, despite what you might think, is spot on about President Obama.  Obama adheres to an extremist, liberal view of American History.  I am all but certain that he has read Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States.  Obama therefore believes that America was founded at the least under dubious circumstances and at worst its history is ripe with genocide (of Native Americans) and was built on the foundation of slavery and other human rights violations.  This is why the President has signaled a retreat of America as the "Light on a hill" that the world can look to as the example of liberty and democracy in the world.  Thus, because of Obama's perception of US atrocities in its history, Obama does not think that America has the moral authority to be the lead the free world.

He also has absolutely no understanding of the nature of the enemy that we are fighting right now.  I must admit, though, that until recently I did not truly understand radical Islam.  It was not until I read two books over this summer.  The first is Son of Hamas written by Mosab Yousef, who is the son of one of the founders of Hamas and became a spy for Israel and then converted to Christianity.  The second is The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright.  This book traces the roots of radical Islam and how it lead to the attacks on 9/11.  After reading these two books I have come to two conclusions:

1.  Radical Islam, while a small minority of Islam, represents about 91 million people in the world.  They are hard-lined zealots that see the rest of the world both moderate Islam and the Infidel as needing to be conquered, and put under the flag of Islam.

2.  They will never stop.  Their goal is to establish a world wide caliphate, with Sharia Law as the basis for this government.  They are not moderate, and they cannot be negotiated with.  They welcome death in the name of their cause as they then can be called martyrs and hopefully lead others to this extremist view of Islam.

When one couples Obama's reticence to lead the world, along with his lack of understanding of the Islamic world, there was no way he was going to do what needed to be done.  Yes he is most likely going to bomb the crap out of them, but bombings alone have never won a war. Unfortunately, due to his retreat from Iraq he allowed ISIS to gain power. He will not do what needs to be done, and I fear for whoever is the next President of the United States.

Obama Fiddles while...

The Obamas with the German Chancelor
On Tuesday President Barack Obama held his fourth State Dinner: This one for German Chancellor Angela Merkel.  According to several sources this State Dinner was scaled back.  The Washington Post asks the rhetorical question as to whether this was an aesthetic or a budget choice.
In all honesty I could care less.  When I saw this image, I became instantly frustrated and even more disgusted with this President than I usually am.  This was his 4th State dinner in less than two and a half years.  Forget the cost of such a dinner in a time when this country is accumulating debt faster than Sylvester can say "Suffering Succotash." Forget the fact that President George W. Bush had just 6 (count them, 6) State Dinners in eight years (Yes at this rate if Obama is reelected --Heaven Forbid--he will have between 13 and 16).

He, his wife and family, seem to be oblivious to the plight of regular Americans.  The U.S. is drowning in debt.  Many Americans are upside down in their homes (including me).  Unemployment is at 9.1% (Gallup puts the rate higher).  Gas prices are as high as $4.00 per gallon, in some places.  GDP has fallen to 1.2% in the last quarterly report.  The U.S. Military is fighting three wars (Iraq, Afghanistan and Lybia) Yet, Obama and his wife parade around in lavish clothes, host State Dinners, play round after round of golf (the latest count I could find was 64 rounds--Bush played 32 in 8 years) and seemingly live it up.  Americans are suffering.  Way too many people are out of work.  Gas prices have stretched already thin family budgets even thinner.  In such difficult times, the supposed leader of his people should not be seen "living it up."

His decision to continue to do so, is more than just poor judgement or bad advice.  First it shows a stunning lack of restraint. But more importantly it makes him look out of touch, and smacks of extreme hubris.

Hello....is this thing on?

I quote President Barack Obama from what he said yesterday.
"It is important though to recognize if we keep on adding to the debt, even in the midst of this recovery, that at some point, people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession."
I have to ask, did he keep a straight face when he said this? Yes President Bush left a deficit, when he left office. This is a fact that cannot be disputed. But President Obama came in and TRIPLED the deficit. T-R-I-P-L-E-D it. Now he says that adding more to the debt could weaken the economy? But he wants a universal health care plan that according to current estimates will cost 1.3 trillion over 10 years. And given the fact that Medicare has cost roughly 9 times more than originally estimated, this monster could easily cost 10 trillion dollars. And there are rumblings from congress that another "stimulus" package is needed. MORE DEBT.

Does Obama really mean what he said here? He keeps spending more and more money and the debt is so huge that it is practically unfathomable.

I actually agree with his statement, but how can can he say it with a straight face? His policies have set up this house of cards to fall. The dollar is weak and there is nothing being done to strengthen it. Inflation is coming. There is so much money sitting out there not being spent, that when it is, the economy could overheat causing massive inflation. If (in my opinion it is a matter of when) this happens say goodbye to the minuscule growth that is happening right now, and this depression (yes I think it is a depression) will worsen.

I think I have seen this movie before.

No, there is no anti-Israel Bias at the NY Times.

Recently the New York Times published an Op-Ed of a Palestinian who describes the deplorable conditions that he says exist in Israeli prison...
